MINDFULNESS-BASED THERAPEUTIC RELIEF SESSIONS

WHAT IS MINDFULNESS?

β€œMindfulness is awareness, cultivated by paying attention in a sustained and particular way: on purpose, in the present moment, and nonjudgmentally.”
— Jon Kabat-Zinn

Mindfulness aids in healing. Plain and simple. Countless research studies have identified the following benefits of Mindfulness: reduces stress, anxiety, and depression;  improves concentration and attention; reduces emotional reactivity; boosts resilience;  improves ability to cope with chronic pain;  enhances mood and general well-being;  changes the rewiring of the brain; boosts memory; and improves sleep.

WHAT IS MINDFULNESS-BASED THERAPEUTIC RELIEF (MBTR)?

ONE-ON-ONE SESSIONS, ideally RECURRING over a period of time, in which MINDFULNESS + RELAXATION tools and practices are implemented (and continually practiced!) to help meet the client's specific needs and goals and to enable the client to work through and COPE WITH STRESSORS and difficulties more skillfully.

Each 45 MINUTE SESSION will include: open conversation in a safe, confidential environment;  introduction to and practice of various informal and formal Mindfulness tools, exercises, and meditations tailored to the individual's specific needs;  10-15 minutes of guided Mindfulness meditation + deep relaxation (with optional aromatherapy + savasana massage). As noted, these trainings are designed to be recurring in order to have the time and practice to create lasting changes for the client.

ANY AND EVERY INDIVIDUAL IS WELCOME here for anything they may be seeking support with, under which the specific healing modality of Mindfulness can effectively support.

Common symptoms or areas in which bring clients to seek MBTR training are:

  • ANXIETY
  • UNHAPPINESS
  • STRESS
  • DRAINED ENERGY
  • SADNESS
  • SLEEP
  •  EMOTIONAL REACTIVITY
  • INABILITY TO BE PRESENT
  • NEGATIVE OR DEFEATED OUTLOOK
  • DIFFICULTY FOCUSING
  • CONSTANT BUSYNESS
  • LONELINESS
  • LOW SELF-CONFIDENCE

Please note I am not a trained counselor or psychologist and thus am ethically unable and unwilling to diagnose symptoms or identify disorders. My background entails a BA in Psychology, MA in Education, 500hr Registered Yoga Teacher, and soon to be completed Certified Mindfulness Meditation Teacher. In addition to these credentials, 8+ years of Mindfulness study and practice and a lifetime of personal experience with the whole spectrum of stressors and difficulties have brought me to a place where I feel fit to aid in this type of healing modality.

WHAT IS THE SLIDING SCALE COST?

My goal is for AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE to be able to participate in MBTR sessions. The sliding scale fee structure allows you to choose a level of support that works for YOUR PERSONAL FINANCIAL SITUATION. Basically, the way it works is there is a minimum base price of $50 for a 45 minute session. This is the minimum amount to cover my expenses and to establish a form of respectful energy exchange If this is what you are able to afford in your financial situation then this is certainly what you will pay. Clients are able to pay whatever they are CALLED TO OFFER, between $50-$85+ based on their financial situation and/or the value that they feel that our work together has in their life. With that being said, there are NO EXPECTATIONS, and absolutely no judgements, regardless of what amount you pay. I am happy to have every single person who is willing to take on this transformative & healing journey with me and if this sliding scale does not work for you, we will work together to find a payment plan that does.

WHERE/ WHEN DO WE MEET AND HOW DO I BOOK AN APPOINTMENT?

Flexible meeting times will be offered to meet the client's schedule and sessions are held in a very PEACEFUL and RELAXING SETTING (my studio in Walnut Hills). In-person sessions are available as well as phone/skype meetings to those out of town. You may book an appointment directly through me via phone (513.703.3773) or email (akern84@gmail.com).
